Frequently asked questions
Do I need the internet to use Pic2Merch?
No. Pic2Merch runs its own small server on your PC and works entirely on your local network — no internet connection is needed to take orders. See the Network Setup Guide for what setting up that local network involves.
What devices can customers order from?
Any device with a web browser — a kiosk tablet or PC you provide in-store, or a customer's own phone via a scannable QR code. Both go through the exact same ordering flow.
What products can I sell through it?
13 shapes and counting — circle, oval, box, arch (for cone-wrap cups and bowls), triangle, hexagon, heart, trapezoid, tunnel, 6 & 8-point stars, Easter egg, and Christmas tree. It's not limited to one product type, so magnets, photo frames, signs, plates, decorative letters, and more can all sit on the same kiosk.
Do I need a slide-through cutter?
No. Cutter-width calibration is entirely optional and only applies to products you turn it on for — hand-cut or die-cut products work fine without it.
What computer do I need to run it on?
A Windows PC or laptop. It doesn't need to be powerful — it just needs to stay switched on while you're taking orders.
Where is my data stored?
Locally, on your own PC — not in someone else's cloud. You control how long customer photos are kept, and can write your own data retention policy wording shown to customers.
Can I back up my products and photo albums?
Yes — full backup and restore is built in, so you can export everything and bring it back on the same PC or a fresh install.
Does it work with my existing stock tracking?
There's an optional integration with Stock4Merch, A to PC's inventory companion app — stock levels sync automatically and orders can be blocked before overselling. It's entirely optional; Pic2Merch works standalone without it too.
What if I forget the admin password?
There's a local reset tool that runs right on your PC — no online account or "forgot password" email flow needed.
How much does it cost?
We're currently thinking somewhere around $1 per day, roughly $30 for a fixed 30-day period rather than a calendar-month subscription — but nothing's locked in yet. If you've got feedback on that, we'd genuinely like to hear it — get in touch and let us know what you think, or register your interest to be the first to know once pricing is confirmed.
When will it be available to buy?
We're aiming for this Spring — that's a target, not a promise, so register your interest to be notified the moment it's confirmed and again as soon as it launches.
